My students are a diverse group of learners and care about each other as a true class family. Students come together to support each other in all that they do. They are caring and compassionate and love to learn.
Our class is predominantly low-income students.
Almost 50% are English Language Learners from all different countries. There are many refugees in our school, and other students with challenging backgrounds. Nevertheless, the students are hard workers and dedicated to learning. We are a close-knit family of teachers and learners.
Our students sometimes come to school with their clothes and jackets dirty. It is even more horribly embarrassing the older the students get, and we try and help certain students by washing a shirt or a jacket for them. Having a new washer and dryer would enable our school to help us to help our students focus on learning and be less self-conscious.
My students do not always have the resources to wash their clothes at home, and living in impoverished conditions sometimes makes it impossible for them to wear clean clothes to school.
With your help, we can help students and their sanitation needs. This project will supply a new washer and dryer combination set that will help many students for years to come. They will be able to feel more confident when their basic needs have been met.
