I teach in a rural community in southwest Missouri. Overall, our community is made up of wonderful families and kiddos who truly support our school in every way they can. The area we live in is absolutely beautiful. However, being in a rural area has some disadvantages-such as lack of quality jobs. This means many of our kids come from high poverty homes.
My students are eager, energetic second-graders who look forward to coming to school every single day.
They are kind, compassionate, and caring. In our classroom, we are a family. My students have big dreams of changing the world. I want to make sure I give them every opportunity to gain the knowledge they will need to do just that!
My Project
Each day, our second graders come to school eager to learn. They love their classroom homes and take great pride in them. Unfortunately, second grade can be kind of messy! Between snacks in our classroom, playground dirt, craft messes, germs, etc- it's sometimes hard to keep our rooms clean. This can be especially problematic during cold and flu season!
We want to get the tools needed to maintain a clean and healthy classroom!
We have three second grade classrooms in our building. We want students to be able to take accountability for cleaning up messes. We also want to be able to deep clean in the evenings after the students leave to ensure no germs are left behind! The vacuum will allow us to keep a tidy classroom rug and deep clean in every nook of our rooms. The steam mop will allow us to deep clean our floors after a messy classroom project or an unexpected flu bug. Clorox wipes will give us sanitized table tops to fight off the flu. They will also help eliminate sticky snack time messes. A broom and dust pan combo will allow us to quick clean up spills or dirty floors. The students will also be able to grab it and use as needed. Keeping our classroom clean will help the students learn to take accountability for their messes and taking care of their space. It will also help us to keep our classrooms as healthy as possible and cut down on illness.
