Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our school is located in a high-poverty area, and over 95% of our students come from low-income families. Most students rely on hand-me-downs from siblings and free lunch at school, and they tend to always hope for the best. Even though they are faced with daily struggles, they come to school every day ready and eager to learn.
I want my students to become thinkers in all areas.
I want them to learn that there is always more than one way to solve a problem.
My Project
The materials requested will help keep students clean along with their environment.
This will cut down on some of the viruses and bacteria that seem to heighten during the fall and winter season of school.
Clorox wipes will be used for desks and computers in the classroom to cut out unsanitary conditions. Hand sanitizer will be used by students to use on their way to lunch to make sure that they are not eating the germs that are on their hands. Because I have a sink in my classroom, hand soap will be used for students to wash their hands after projects. Cups will also be used in my classroom so that students can get something to drink and throw away when done. This will cut down on students putting their mouths on the fountain and spreading germs.
A proactive approach of prevention of these germs from students who would otherwise be absent would be a great way to model and encourage these students to always stay clean even when at home.
