Help me give my students various things for our classroom. This includes anxiety calming manipulatives, supplies for a healthy classroom, and colored card stock for upcoming projects!
"Every student can learn, just not on the same day, or in the same way."- George Evans
In my classroom we aim to teach students with various disabilities math, reading, language, and social skills.
Students in my class have academic and functional goals which they work to master. Rather than focusing on the class as a whole, we develop a plan to help each individual student achieve mastery. Multiple learning methods are used in my classroom including one-on-one meetings with a teacher, small group learning, using manipulatives, whole group lessons, direct instruction, repetition, and the use of computer programs.
Rather than dwelling on weaknesses, we meet students where they are, and build confidence from strengths.
My Project
Items on our wish list promote healthy habits within the classroom. Hand sanitizer, tissues, and disinfecting wipes will allow students to keep their hands, noses, and tables clean. We can hope that by instilling healthy practices at school, healthy habits will follow at home.
Healthy Learners are Happy Learners!
Other items are proven to help kids fidget and provide sensory regulation. Many students in my classroom struggle to focus for long periods of time- think about the last time you found yourself tapping your foot during a meeting. - These fidget items will allow students to keep their hands busy. In return, their brains will be more engaged in learning. These fidgets are also silent, so other students are not distracted. Calming manipulatives including noise reducing headphones and wiggle cushions will allow for sensory regulation.
Colored card stock will be used to create materials for students to use daily. Headphones will be used by students as they use their computers to practice their math and reading skills.
