This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are wonderful, they are hardworking and always willing to give me a helping hand. Many of them enter our school below grade level academically, however, they buckle down and commit to our academic process, and end up learning and excelling beyond their wildest dreams.
We are a supportive community building our school culture on respect, kindness, rigorous academics, and the belief that everyone can go to college and succeed.
We pride ourselves on our inclusive community, we are small enough where everyone feels like family once they step into our warm hallways. Most students lend their time to helping staff decorate their doors, and bulletin boards every few weeks.
Many of my students are new to the country, yet, in a short time, they have acclimated to our school culture, because of our peer-to-peer support system.
My Project
As students transition into high school, their bodies are also in transition. Having access to hygiene products will enable a clean and fresh environment throughout the day. My students enjoys running and jumping, participating in PE classes. Their bodies sweat as the fun happens, without access to showers during the day can pose a new issue.
These products will enable students to freshen up during the day and feel more secure as they travel through the halls.
Positive self-image is so important at this age. These discrete products will aid in creating this environment of positivity.
