My students face a lot of challenges, not only academically, but personally and socially as well. They are original thinkers and enjoy hands on learning and activities with movement.
Our public elementary school in Indianapolis faces the daily challenge of educating and motivating students that live well within the poverty level.
Our students are very active learners. They love when we have flexible seating options, STEM projects, and choice of tasks within their daily routine. They work best in a flexible, yet structured, environment.
My Project
This summer an organization blessed our school with a STEM lab and Makerspace. Every student in the school, Pre-K to grade 6, can visit this wonderful room full of STEM materials, a Lego Wall, and great tables to do hands-on projects. The students who go into the lab get to make glorious, intellectual messes!
Please help our students to clean up their messes in the STEM lab, while sanitizing the area to keep germs at bay.
Some students bring cleaning wipes at the beginning of the school year with their school supplies. Unfortunately, the teachers need those wipes in their classrooms to clean up the daily messes that come from eating breakfast and snacks. The student-supplied wipes quickly run out, and usually teachers or wonderful sites like Donor's Choose supply the wipes for the rest of the year. There are currently no wipes or cleaning supplies available for the lab. With your donation, we will be able to keep a good supply of wipes in the lab for the all classes to use. This is especially important in the winter when flu and colds are more frequent. We will also be able to use the tablet sterilizer for the few iPads that are kept in the lab.
