Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I work in an urban, low-income community school with over 500 students. Many of our students come from high poverty homes. Students come from many diverse backgrounds and include a large amount of English as a second language students.
We are a Title I school, and all of our students qualify for free and reduced-price lunch.
Despite the challenges they face outside of school, students come to our school excited to learn. They need the tools that will help them reach their goals.
As an educator, I focus on creating a community in my classroom where students feel safe, secure, and motivated to learn.
My Project
As a school we are always working toward increasing students attendance. Unfortunately, in classrooms, when one child gets sick germs spread to others which in turn creates more student absences and loss of instruction. My goal for the upcoming school year is to increase attendance by cutting down on germs that are flying around the room.
All these items will help us create a clean and healthy atmosphere for our students, which will lead to healthier students, increased attendance, and a more consistent education!
Lysol wipes, hand sanitizer, tissues, paper towels and Magic Erasers will help reduce the amount of germs flying around our classroom by cleaning all of our surface areas and disinfecting our hands.
