I teach an amazing class of 27 second graders in the South Bronx.
Many of my students are English language learners and children with special needs.
Most receive free and reduced cost lunch. All of my students are creative, thoughtful, and eager learners. They are excited and passionate readers. They have a love of learning and are eager to be with each other everyday! My students are just good people. I look at them everyday and feel blessed to be with such positive and empowering kids who love to learn. These student have nothing yet come to school so eager to help each other and create an environment of learning every single day.
Ranging from picture books to chapter books, I love that my students can pick up any book and find an amazing story or lesson to learn.
Living in low conditions really takes a toll on bodies, especially small ones. New York City is know for their polluted air and coming inside of a classroom is not different. Many of those same germs and air pollutions come into the four walls where most students call home. By donating to my project, you are allowing students to receive an air filter that reduces their chances of getting sick in school! They will be able to breathe clean air which allows them to focus more and reduce absences from the common cold, flu...etc
Though learning is top priority, it is also my job as an educator to keep my little ones safe!
