Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are eager, enthusiastic young artists. They come into the art studio willing to learn, take risks and explore their creative potential. Through our time together, I have had the opportunity to know them as individuals. Many have come up through hardships in their childhood that is more than anyone should experience in a lifetime - yet, they persevere. They attended classes, passed exams and applied to college. For many, this a dream that they are living. My youngsters are amazing individuals. They want to be positive members of society, want to participate in problem solving, and want to find success in their academic endeavors. My students' eagerness for learning surpasses expectations. I take honor in my role as their teacher. I hope to inspire, motivate and open their ideas to creative endeavors.
My Project
This project is important for the classroom because of the importance of creating an environment where young artists feel excited to go to; a place they where they are willing to work hard and feel the satisfaction of a job well done. Simple cleaning supplies are essential to keep the art room a welcoming, pleasant space for my young artist to have the freedom of creative expression. Snacks provide energy, nutrition and feeling of being taken acre of. For many of my students, these snacks is all they eat until they get home. As school budgets become more and more tight, I find that cleaning supplies are more difficult to come by, and they are one of the few items I can not rummage for or recycle!
The art room is a special place, where students create special works.
Cleaning supplies and snackswill help to create a space that they feel welcome, happy and enjoy their time. Teaching students the importance of taking care of materials, respecting tools and the work space is as vital as their creativity.
