What did you do when you were four or five? Question, tinker, discover, dream, hope.
We know that basic human needs like love, food, and shelter need to be met in order to foster a child's cognitive, emotional, social and physical growth.
We live in an urban setting with 100% of our students on free or reduced lunch. Our students come from a variety of different ethnic backgrounds. We believe they can be the kind of children who grow up creators and leaders who impact others. Yet, for many of them, this neighborhood in Cleveland is all they have ever known. This is a reality for our students every day. We want to show them there is so much out there to explore and that they can do it. Our kids’ creativity has no boundaries. They are inquisitive and filled with hope.
We want to change the game. We believe if we change the game, we can change our kids' path. Help us with that.
We are excited to help our students in every way that we can!
My Project
We love to read books every day and this also sets the stage for success. But did you know that pre-schoolers who are read to every day have many advantages and benefits? Our goal is to lay a foundation that will set up our children for success. Traveling the world through picture books will be our vehicle. Not only does reading enhance a child’s vocabulary, and to help them understand how to read and write, but reading aloud to children also helps them to understand different topics about the world and everyday life. Through these books, we can develop language skills, enhance their concentration, and exercise their brain through exposure to reading. Finally, reading together encourages a thirst for knowledge and using a range of books teaches children about different topics. Reading these books from around the world will develop a child’s imagination and creativity and at the same time promote empathy. We will build these skills together as we bond through the books.
We want to introduce our kids to how people across the globe eat, live and spend their day.
These everyday activities are a fun way to expose kids to cultures and traditions outside of their own. We want to make a conscious effort to introduce our explorers to different countries and cultures through books and fun hands-on activities we can do in our classroom.
