Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are all ages from K-5, Secondary and teachers with varying skill levels. There are tactile learners who seek to experience creating art outside of traditional pen and paper. We also are an I-pad school and stop motion animation was briefly touched on this year. The art room did not have the adequate space or enough materials to do more than a basic introduction. However, we covered the basics and watched several animated films.
Students who want to experiment with clay in content area context.
Students and teachers seeking more skills for integrated learning with i-pad technology will find this important and interesting.
My Project
This classroom lesson can be used with students as well as a professional development opportunity. It will show an overview of the basics of building and animating claymation figures. Topics covered are the Plasticine or modeling clay; preparing the classroom. Students and teachers will have an opportunity to use clay tools; implement armature wire, see the effects of texture plates. They will practice, form and create their clay figure. This is a unique chance to use animation and apply it to all content areas for second language learners, special needs and classroom teachers who want to make learning fun!
My project can be applied to art skills, teaching skills and fit all content areas.
