How cute are my little ones? I have the opportunity to educate these young minds, and I couldn't be any more excited! My students are a part of the CMES community, being one of five Kindergarten classrooms, serving in a high-poverty area where 100% of our students receive free meals.
“Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better, it's not." - Dr. Seuss
CMES is a wonderful learning community, however, the struggle lies with providing our students with the classroom resources they deserve! CMES is a School of Mathematics, dedicated to providing students with rigorous and meaningful learning opportunities, and is continually looking for ways to enhance not only the educational experience for every child but also extending the same love and support into their daily lives beyond "these four walls". In fact, that is this Kindergarten teacher's mission, and this is where it starts. With varying skill sets, ways of learning, home environments, and access to technology, these Kindergarten kiddos are in need of nourishment through education.
Thank you for donating to my classroom as it contributes to positively impacting these little lives! It is truly appreciated!
My Project
Let's face it, remote learning can be strenuous at times. Our Kindergarten students need to be provided hands-on learning opportunities while also having moments to take a 'brain break' in order for students to stay engaged in online learning.
"Creativity requires the courage to be bored".
During remote learning, our students are taking on the challenge of becoming technology experts, to include navigating through different educational sites, completing google slides, and using the touchpad on Chromebooks. With all of the technology use, it is still important to provide students with meaningful learning experiences through hands-on activities as well as time to 'just be a kid'.
With the colored pencils, sketch pad, and coloring sets, it is my intention to allow my students to take 'brain breaks' away from the computer screen by using the 'stop and jot' method to share a take away from a lesson, and earn 'free draw' time as an incentive coupled with our PBIS system.
With the modeling clay, students will able to create different 2D and 3D shapes to share with their classmates as well as use the clay to form letters and numbers.
The wireless mouse and mouse pad are intended to make navigating the Chromebook a bit easier for children their age. Last but certainly not least, with the approaching holiday, I would love to provide students with a family-fun board game to allow them to enjoy during their time away from the virtual classroom. Candy Land is a classic!
