Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
As a Title I school with students who are at 65% free and reduced lunch, I have extremely hard working learners committed to being the best they can be.
Curious, passionate, and hardworking; my students are eager to immerse themselves in reading, especially with a variety of genres.
My learners are not quite on grade level and 10 out of 24 of my learners are on Read Act Plans. I am working very hard to change that by providing high interest, a variety of genres and differentiated leveled text to engage and empower our students with more choice in text selection. In doing so, I need the bookshelves to organize my books so my children can easily access them. The shelving will also provide an organized home like feeling.
My Project
I am getting over 300 books from my school district, and I need bookshelves to store them in. By making the space in my classroom aesthetically pleasing, I am striving for a kid-friendly classroom library, Starbucks style! I am going to label and organize these shelves into a variety of genres, so my learners will have easy access to books and exposure to high-quality reading.
My goal is for my learners to own their learning; own their future by developing good reading habits and wanting to read because they can't wait to read their favorite author, series, or genre.
With an organized classroom library, I feel my readers will enjoy and want to read, especially with new books to delve into.
