This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Our students have a high level of curiosity, and their energy is abundant. These children are from diverse backgrounds and households, and many have unique needs and challenges to overcome. We have a high population of students who are at-risk socially, emotionally, and academically. In spite of challenges, there is also a high desire to be cooperative, respectful, and successful students.
My students' potential is limitless, and I see future engineers, computer scientists, chefs, and teachers.
These young scholars have awesome determination. The academic growth that many are experiencing is remarkable because they have the ability and desire to acquire and apply the skills necessary to be successful.
My Project
My students become so engaged when they have hands-on materials that they can explore to help them learn about their world. Our weather unit includes teaching the scientific instruments used by meteorologists to help see weather patterns and make predictions about future weather.
These weather kits from Lakeshore Learning have a rain gauge, weather vane, anemometer, and many activities to explore and track mild and extreme weather ---it is a weather station in the classroom.
My students look forward to the exciting experiments and high-interest writing projects, in these activity tubs and can't wait to have everything we need to observe and investigate weather!
