Classroom Videos - Student-Created and for Teaching
My students need an easy to use, durable video camera to create video projects in class and support our work as a STEM school (Science Technology Engineering Math).
As a newly designated STEM school I am looking for ways to integrate Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math into my everyday teaching.
Our school has approximately 45% of its students on free and reduced lunch.
We have a very diverse population with students coming from all over the world including Israel, Somalia, Korea, Guatemala, Mexico and many more. Many of our students do not have access to technology at home.
My Project
The video camera and accessories that I am requesting will benefit my students in many ways. It will be used by students to create videos to document their learning and work on in class projects. For example, in January we will begin Heritage projects where students will study a country that represents their heritage and then create a website to present the information they have learned. With a camera students will be able to embed a video into their website. Students will also be able to use the camera to create instructional videos to share with the school. For example, as a green school they can use it to create an instructional video on recycling milk containers at lunchtime. I also plan to use the video camera to help with supplement classroom instruction by creating instructional videos on concepts we are covering in class for students to watch at home before we learn about it in class. The videos would also be available for parents to review when helping students with homework.
Please help me to integrate technology into my classroom.
This project will support our efforts as a STEM school and will allow students to explore technology and showcase their learning in a highly motivating and unique way.
