Classroom Transformation to Flexible Seating

My students need more flexible seating options for our classroom. Currently we are hoping for these low seats for use at a lowered table.

My Students

My students enter my classroom each morning with smiles on their faces and an eagerness to tackle any task! This year we are transforming our classroom to allow for a variety of flexible seating options and I can’t even begin to express what an amazing difference it has made! Students that need a little extra movement in their day are able to stand, wiggle on yoga balls, rock in seat rocker chairs, or sit on stability discs to help with focus. They have told me that they feel like the luckiest class in our school because they are being allowed to get what their bodies need while learning so many new skills at the same time because they are better able to focus. They are excited to add more alternatives to our new and improved classroom!

My Project

My students need opportunities throughout their day to move their bodies. Flexible seating allows them to move their bodies during lessons without distracting others. It also helps them to stay focused on the lessons being presented. We are currently hoping to obtain these low seats to be used at a table that we have lowered closer to the ground as an alternative to traditional desk seating. These would make a great addition to the yoga ball chairs, seat rockers, and stools that we currently have available to our students. They have expressed positive feedback about the helpfulness of flexible seating this year and we look forward to adding to options available to our class.
