Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our students are in grades TK-5. We are a large public school on the border of the Mission District and Bernal Heights. We have students who came into the school year with a variety of skill levels and from a variety of backgrounds.

My students have a wide variety of needs and challenges, but also a wide variety of strengths!

There is a strong sense of community in this school and everyone here wants to see our children grow and learn.

My Project

Our class has round tables, which is great for working in groups and learning to share supplies. However, it also can lead to distractions and can make it harder for some students to focus. We will soon have a 1:1 tablet-to-student ratio and our current headphones are sometimes uncomfortable and distracting. They also are a little flimsy!

Comfy headphones will help students use their tablets with minimal distractions and the study carrels will allow them to have privacy and a calm space in which to take assessments.

These are especially beneficial for students who need extra help focusing on their work.
