My kindergarten rockstars are a kind, curious bunch who come to school every day eager to learn. Our school is the largest elementary school in the largest city in our state. We have an amazing community of students, staff, and parents who work together to educate our children. Students come from a variety of cultural and socio-economic backgrounds and currently, approximately 65% qualify for free or reduced price lunch.
In our classroom, we work hard to build a community where each student is celebrated and their story is valued.
Our diverse school community focuses on fostering leadership and supporting students in building social-emotional skills. We love our community and are constantly seeking ways to spread kindness.
My Project
This is Part 4 of our iPad project to provide a total of five new iPads for our classroom. This project will fund iPad #4 of the six we hope for. My students love when they get to use technology in our classroom! This project would add an iPad to our classroom for students to use to explore and build STEM skills.
There are so many amazing tools out there for students to use to explore areas of interest and to help make our learning more engaging and fun!
The built in applications such as the camera and microphone will allow students to document observations during our life cycle unit. Students will take pictures and record their thinking as we watch butterflies, lady bugs, and praying mantis go through metamorphosis.
With this iPad my students will use apps such as Froggiepedia which can be installed for students to use augmented reality to view the life cycle of a frog. Solar Walk 2 allows students to navigate the solar system and explore planets. Goldieblox: Adventures in Coding would give students the opportunity to learn the fundamental concepts of coding while helping Goldiblox deliver cupcakes around town. There are so many options, and we can't wait to see all that we can do with this new tool!
Technology gives students choice in their learning by providing countless tools and resources for students to gain valuable STEM skills.
This project will add an additional device to our classroom, providing students with greater exposure to different technology and giving them access to tools and resources to enhance and deepen our learning.
