My students are from a very diverse student population and have very diverse backgrounds, each students needs to be able to become an engaged learner in order to successfully understand history.
My students range from 9th-12th grade.
I teach in a public school in Pennsylvania. The community surrounding the school is classified as low income. When assigning a project or an activity, in class time has to be given because of lack of support and funding at home that provides the students with the correct materials needed to complete assignment. Teaching history requires covering more information that needs to be presented to the students than other classes. Having the students work on projects such as timelines, posters, creating newspapers and game boards is a more engaging way for them to learn. The students enjoying working on projects and sharing their thoughts and ideas with the class throughout the school year. With budget cuts and less supplies order, I am in need of supplies to meet the needs of my students.
My Project
With these materials, my high school students will be able to create posters, timelines, game boards, recreate newspaper articles, etc. They will be involved in the learning process and be able to share their creative ideas and individual ways of thinking with their class through presentation. The materials needed are simple materials that will be used by all 160 of my students. Having these items donated will allow my classroom and students to continue to work on projects at school since materials can't be provided at home. It gives them the ability to show their artistic skills and be creative while building something according to the teachers' guidelines.
It allows every student, no matter their learning capabilities to succeed in my classroom throughout the school year.
Donations to this request will allow for some differentiated instruction and a change of pace with the typical routine.
