Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I work in a small district in Santa Fe Springs. All of my students have special needs. Most of my students struggle with reading comprehension and math reasoning. The majority of my students have a difficult time understanding the books and materials they read. All of my students are diverse learners. My students face different challenges daily. Sometimes, it takes us two to three days to get through an activity because I have to reteach it to them several times.
Although my students face different challenges daily, they never give up.
My students are learning to have a growth mindset. Within my classroom, we use the power of yet. For example, instead of my students saying "I don't know how to read this", they say, "I don't know how to read this yet". My students work hard daily to achieve their goals and finish their assignments. I look forward to seeing my students grow and achieve their goals over this year. The things I love most about my students are their willingness to learn, try new things, and ask for help when they need it.
My Project
As we get ready to start the school year, there are some simple supplies that every classroom needs. These supplies will not only help my students get started with their school year, they would also help make sure that my students have the supplies needed to be success this year.
School can be tough and not having to worry about some simple supplies, can ease the stress for some of my students.
I want my students to be successful and having a classroom stocked with supplies will make that possible for them. Every student deserves to have the supplies they need for school.
