This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I am a middle school math teacher at an urban charter school in Indianapolis. I am going into my first year teaching, and I look forward to impacting the lives of my students. I aspire to have a classroom where learning is exciting and where my students will make meaningful memories that they will carry through life. My students come from a high poverty area; however, I believe all my students have the ability to learn and be successful with the right mindset and push.
My Project
This project will allow my students to have several basic school supplies for our classroom. Very few students bring in enough materials for the whole class, and most don't bring anything at all. While our school does provide some materials, which I am extremely grateful for, but these materials will allow us to ensure all of our students have the proper materials each day.
All of the items in this project are essential in our daily classroom operations.
Students will use the dry erase boards and markers for our small group activities. While the binders and pencils will be used for our daily lessons, note taking, and learning activities. Each student will get their own binder to house all notes, worksheets, trackers, and all other handouts.
