Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach in a low income, urban, Title I Connecticut High School. For this reason, many of my students will not receive the same opportunities outside of the classroom as others might. Due to their socioeconomic situations, it is difficult to provide essential school supplies once families make the initial purchase at the beginning of the school year. I strive to create an engaging and positive classroom environment, while increasing student's self-confidence and self-esteem. I continually emphasize the importance of education and set the bar higher for my students. A goal they meet and often exceed!
My Project
The requested material is necessary for the daily classroom routine. Expo markers are used with personal whiteboards for assessments during my lessons. Students are frequently unprepared with pencils or pens and the ordered pencils/pens will replenish my supply. I'm adding some color to my classroom with the assorted multi-colored paper and Expo markers.
Throughout the year, students earn "Game Day" where they play chess and can now include the "Rush Hour" game as another choice.
While always trying to encourage my students with positive communication, I ordered the stickers that I can apply as I check their notebook or correct assessments.
