Joyce Mayer once said, "A #2 pencil and a dream can take you anywhere." My students have the dream, but not the pencils or other supplies needed to be successful in school.
My students are fun, interactive and creative individuals.
They come from homes that are, most often, unable to supply the basic school supplies for them. While they have the drive to succeed, they need help getting the tools that will get them there.
My Project
To help students "think critically," they need the tools to make that happen. With the supplies that I am requesting, such as pencils, pens, Post-Its, sharpeners, etc., my students will be able to complete even the most basic assignments. Colored pens help students to annotate a text and Post-it notes help to record and track their thinking.
The Common Core is hard - but my students pushing through!
Each day, students are required to work their way through tough tasks and complicated readings.
To help make these daunting tasks easier, colored pens and Post-Its will help students mark-up their texts and track their thinking; markers will help students create anchor charts and visual representations; even supplying students with the most basic pencils will keep their focus on the task ... not something to write with.
