Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our school is a Title I school that is in an at-risk and low-income neighborhood. My students come from diverse backgrounds; the majority are Hispanic or African American. A little less than half of my students are limited English proficient and exceptional education students.
Many come from single-parent households or families that are in transition.
We work very hard to overcome all of these challenges. My students have the exact same eagerness to learn science as their peers in more affluent schools. Unfortunately, the school's resources and technology are very limited.
My classroom is a place where curiosity is cultivated and creativity is fostered. My students are inquisitive learners who love learning about our world. I strive to make all lessons interesting and engaging so students become more curious about the world and crave even more knowledge. The world's greatest inventions and advancements all started with curiosity.
My Project
The resources I am requesting will be used daily in my classroom by the students. Our classroom needs a pencil sharpener this year because our classroom pencil sharpener stopped working at the end of the last school year. We also need ink for our classroom printer. I am also requesting lollipops and hard candy to give out as occasional classroom rewards. Students get super excited over these little rewards for great work or good behavior, which motivates students even more. Lastly, I am requesting basics such as staples and binder clips to help with students' organizational skills.
These classroom supplies will help my students get a great start to the best school year yet!
