My students need a class set of the novel "Sold" by Patricia McCormic. We will be reading this book this year in preparation for the high school curriculum but do not have enough copies.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are at that critical age when a love for reading can still be developed. They are also in an awkward stage between a child and teenager and are highly influenced by their peers. It is often difficult to find a novel that captures their attention and makes them want to research and discover more.
My students have been working hard all year and looking forward to reading the novel "Sold".
They show and interest in the subject of human trafficking which lends itself to a variety of research projects. I would love for them to each have their own classroom copy of the novel so they are not having to share.
My Project
Our language arts department will be completing a unit over human trafficking in preparation of moving on to high school next year. We currently only have enough copies of the novel "Sold" by Patricia McCormick for two out of our three English classrooms. The students must share their copies during reading which makes it difficult for them to complete independent work and activities.
These novels will make a tremendous difference to our students.
In the past, students have loved this unit, which encourages reluctant readers to try new books and build and appreciation for literature. The topic of human trafficking is of high interest to these young adults.
