My Students

Help me to create lifelong lovers of reading! I promise this set of books will be put in good use year after year.

We are a low income school located in an urban area.

My students are 5th graders and this book is my way of integrating History with Language Arts. I hope this book will help my students learn to love history and reading at the same time! This book will easily be able to spark their interests.

My Project

We need a class set of The Island of the Blue Dolphins. We will have read alouds, as well as numerous projects that are tied into the theme of the book. This includes at least writing activities and dramatization activities. They will learn vital skills in reading, writing, and even collaboration while enhancing their social studies knowledge.

I can certainly do this lesson without a copy for each student, but I know having a copy of the book for each student will drastically improving their reading skills while increasing their interest in the lesson.
