My students need another space to sit other than their desks. With this rug, we can smoothly and effectively conduct classroom meetings, mini-lessons, smart board lessons, and collaborative learning opportunities.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
TES is a wonderful school community. We have a diverse group of talented students with varied interests. I teach reading, writing and social studies twice each day. During this time, we follow a co-teaching, inclusion model with an EC teacher pushing in to the classroom. We focus on guided reading and writing, reading stations, small group instruction and hands-on learning experiences while integrating technology.
The students I teach range from students with individualized educational plans, 504 plans, general education students and academically and intellectually gifted students.
It is an exciting challenge to teach such a wide range of young learners in a dynamic learning environment.
My Project
I chose this project because having a rug will enable students to have the flexibility to get up and move away from their desks and into a more collaborative, flexible space. The rug will be a place where students can actively engage in whole group, small group and partner practice throughout the school day.
Students will be able to be active participants in classroom meetings, whole group lessons, mini lessons, and SMARTboard lessons.
Students' learning styles and needs can be met through this project by providing them with increased flexibility for seating choice to best meet each individual student's learning style.
