Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I am a Special Education Teacher co-sponsoring a running club in a low income/ high poverty neighborhood in San Antonio Texas in a Title I district.

The runners stay after school once a week and enjoy running their miles at the high school track across the street.

Our students are a collective group of 3rd, 4th, and 5th-grade students who have become excited about staying active. The runners have been able to experience various skills to incorporate into their running along with keeping track of their daily steps.

My Project

This rug will allow my students a clean cozy space to meet with me daily. Having a nice, clean rug in my classroom is important to me and my students. It creates an environment where students feel comfortable and safe.

This classroom rug will be set up in the reading area.

This is where stories are shared, independent reading occurs and the classroom community is fostered. This is the student's favorite area.

It's important to have a clean rug for students to use in my flexible classroom.

Please help to fund this rug so that my students can learn productively and efficiently.
