Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

As a first year teacher in a Title I school, I would love to have my students feel at home in my classroom. My students are made up of a diverse background and are looking forward to beginning second grade. We are requesting a rug for our classroom to use during our story time, calendar, and whole group lessons. My students need a cozy carpet to invite them to learn. They would love to have a comfy space of their own while they take on the learning challenges of second grade.

My Project

By having an inviting classroom rug, students will have the space needed to comfortably learn without sitting on the bare ground or being cramped by a small rug. With this classroom rug, they will not have to worry about not fitting in one space. Having this classroom rug will allow our students to stay focused on their learning instead of worrying about where and what they are sitting on. This will help minimize distractions and invite a welcome learning environment. They will have room to read, work on stations, group lessons, individual lessons and free time. Minimizing distractions and increasing their focus is optimal for helping young students learn and grow.
