Kindergarteners are full of energy and are squirrley when gathering on the floor for whole group lessons, we need an exciting and inviting place to help us be good listeners.
My class has 24 young learners.
15 boys and 9 girls. With so many boys we have lots of wiggling and moving around which distracts others from learning. Have a structured and color coded space to stay in will be so beneficial to all my students learning. This group of kids are great friends to each other and have amazing imaginations. Our class has good discussions and active engagement in our learning. We would benefit greatly from a rug that enhances these characteristics.
My Project
Our class is enthusiastic about learning and we have lots of energy. We do most instruction as a whole group sitting on the floor. I do small group work in this same area that is bare, boring, and uninspiring. Our class needs a comfy, colorful, inviting space to get our minds excited about our learning targets! This rug is structured so each child has his/her own space. The rug will also teach core concepts like color, shapes, phonics, and good listening skills. These are all the things kindergarteners need to be successful learners.
A colorful and academic rug will invite students to the floor to start every lesson quickly and enthusiastically.
A structured place to sit is just what my students need to maximize their learning and listening skills.
