Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I teach 4th grade at a wonderful rural elementary school. Through grants, our district has been able to provide the latest technology for our students. Although this is wonderful for the kids, I believe that they should also be self-sufficient and not depend entirely on technology. I am asking for a basic set of dictionaries and thesauruses. I currently have a set of 10 dictionaries from 1976. These are the same dictionaries I used when I was in 4th grade (they were old then too)! I believe that kids should know how to use a dictionary and a thesaurus to build vocabulary. I plan to use the dictionaries on a regular basis for both lessons and research. I have lessons that involve students looking up unfamiliar words and using guide words. I also will use the dictionaries to enhance vocabulary and determine word history. The thesauruses will be used to build a strong vocabulary and reinforce synonyms and antonyms. Thank you in advance for your generosity and commitment to education.
