Classroom Planetarium

Help me give my students a planetarium in our classroom. Space is a main science unit for 5th grade, including how the constellations change based on location on Earth and time of year.

My Students

My students are creative, energetic, and full of questions! They absolutely love hands-on, active, engaging projects and challenges that allow them to think outside the box to find solutions!

They always come to school ready to try new things and take brave chances in order to grow both personally and academically.

Coming from a farm community, they are used to being active, moving around, and working with their hands. My goal is make our lessons applicable to their current lives and future work.

My Project

Space is a main unit in our 5th grade science curriculum, including how the constellations change based on location on Earth and time of year.

This planetarium would allow my students to see the changing night sky without traveling 5 hours to a planetarium.

I strongly believe that seeing this change in person is far better than just reading about it in a book. It allows them to use the scientific method and explore their hypothesis through hands on experiments. Bringing science to life is what sparks students to continue in science and explore STEM in their future schooling and careers.
