This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

As the Mental Health Counselor, one way in which I support all of my students is by supporting their classroom teachers. Students spend most of their day, five days a week, in their classrooms. It is where they grow their brains and learn about the world around them. Since they spend so much time there, it is also a place where they often find themselves experiencing big feelings.

I would like to obtain breathing balls, journals, earmuffs, and sensory toys to help every teacher at my school get a peace corner and calm down space up and running in their classroom.

When students have a place in their classroom they can go to help regulate themselves, they are more likely to be able to utilize it and return to their learning quickly and feel successful knowing they helped themselves regulate and express their emotions.
