My students need P.E equipment. Our school has very limited P.E supplies available to K-2 students. With these supplies, my students will improve their fine and gross motor skills in a fun way.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I currently teach at a school where students love going to school because of the safety and unconditional love they receive from all the staff. Most students don’t receive any guidance or support from home. Last year, out of my 27 students, only 6 had their mom and dad in their lives. The rest had a parent either in jail or not part of their lives. I’m the only male classroom teacher at my school and want to be a great role model for them. For some, I’m the only male support they receive.
My Project
I am required by the state of California to have at least 100 hours of P.E. a month. My students have never played pickleball or badminton. I will use the equipment to teach them how to properly play the games. When playing either badminton or pickleball, the players have to be constantly moving. This will help the students stay physically fit and do it in a fun way. Our school has limited resources in regards to P.E equipment. These items will help the students improve their fine and gross motor skills. It will keep them active and learn how to work as a team. I also want to teach the students how to play basketball the correct way. I plan on teaching them how to dribble the ball, shoot properly, rules of the game, and a variety of ways to pass the ball. When they play basketball during recess, they are playing it incorrectly and very unorganized because they don't know how to play. With the funding of this project, my students will be able to improve their fine and gross motor skills. Most importantly, they will stay active and learn how to work as a team in a fun way.
