The majority of my students come from low-income households. Many receive little to no help from parents for school supplies or moral support for school work. I have two classes of freshmen, each with about 25 students, at the College Preparation level. Almost all of my students fall into the category of low-income.
Without help from generous donors, my students may be severely lacking in terms of supplies needed for school.
My students need access to literature outside of their textbooks.
My Project
I am a new teacher and I will be getting my own classroom next year. Currently, I have absolutely no classroom furniture or organization supplies that my fellow teachers have. I can see how my colleagues benefit from having organized classrooms-they just run more smoothly.
It would be wonderful to confidently start a new year in my own classroom with ample supplies to organize my class sets of novels, art supplies, and student assignments.
The large containers will be used to house individual class sets of novels, the smaller containers are for art and office supplies to have ready and available for student use, the hanging files are to hold each day of the weeks' assignments, and the folders will go inside the hanging files, be used to store student work.
