As a teacher for many years I am always trying to organize materials and make them accessible for the students. I looked around my classroom and saw that things are in need of a makeover. By getting shelving units and a bookshelf to put in the room this will improve things greatly.
I teach 22 wonderfully diverse first graders in an urban setting.
Our diversity ranges from ethnic to economic to family diversity. We teach acceptance and learn in a peaceful environment. Our school is an inclusion school. That means every class serves children with special needs.
My Project
I am asking for a birch wood shelved storage unit and a small birch bookshelf. We have so many amazing materials in our first grade classroom that will fit in these sturdy shelving units. The children will easily access math materials as well as puzzles and language arts games. We will also put play toys in the shelves. We also need a smaller bookshelf for specific genres of books. I will be able to a easily access these books for read aloud and instruction in the common core curriculum. The best part is that they come assembled!
At a time when school funding gives the barest of bones to a school like ours, it is givers like you that makes things possible.
I am so grateful that you would take the time to consider my project.
