My First Grade Classroom consists of 20 amazing kids. They are such an exciting group of mixed interests, abilities, and goals. My students are learning to read, write, and count. My group loves to play outside and learn new games. My classroom is about building skills to get included. The work we do in this classroom is building relationships, staying with the group, following directions, and accessing general education content in different ways. We celebrate little wins together each day. My Project
At the beginning of the school year, we sit in a circle and take turns talking about ourselves. We introduce ourselves and name a few of our favorite things. This microphone will be a great way for students to introduce themselves, while making sure everyone is heard! The microphone would be the perfect way to get my introverted or shyer speakers to use their quiet voices, and still be heard. Retelling stories is a great way to strengthen reading comprehension skills. I’ll choose a student to retell our read aloud using this microphone. It will be a great opportunity for me to informally assess a student while they practice their listening skills! We sing ALL THE TIME in First Grade like, everyday…and sometimes multiple times during the day. A microphone would be the perfect addition to our singing time. It would be just plain fun! We only have a short time with these kiddos…it’s so important to spend as much time with them having fun! We have spur of the moment dance parties on a regular basis in our classroom. The microphone is going to increase our fun in the classroom.
