My Students

I teach Kindergarten in a primary school located in a high poverty area in rural North Carolina. The students in my classroom come from various backgrounds and have a variety of learning styles.

My kindergarten classroom is a dual immersion classroom where students are encouraged to work collaboratively in small groups using hands-on activities.

By working together students are building relationships and learning how to communicate with each other. Students become eager to try new things and work collaboratively.

My Project

My students need a common area to work together. By having a classroom rug area it provides a meeting place for students to become comfortable within the classroom.

A classroom rug provides a special space for all students to learn and be involved in the classroom activities.

In my kindergarten classroom, students are always up out of their seat and away from the table. By having a central meeting area students will have a place to share ideas and their personal work. This rug also is color-coded for students to have their own special space during read aloud times.
