Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My classroom is designed to meet the learning needs for students on the autism spectrum. My students fall all over the autism spectrum. My students are in 3rd, 4th, & 5th grade.
Each student is amazing!
Some of our students are non-verbal, some use communication devices, and other spend half their day in the general education classroom. Our students are very diverse from a variety of cultures, countries, and languages are represented in our classrooms.
Our school is a Title I school, meaning majority of our students qualify for free or reduced lunch. My family gives our classroom what they can but their resources are stretched.
My Project
My students have difficulty processing everyday sensory information because of their disability. These senses may be over- or under-sensitive, or both, at different times. These sensory differences can affect behavior, social skills, and academic growth. The structure of a classroom is essential to have a classroom run smoothly to facilitate student learning.
These classroom materials will enhance and unlock their potential so they can learn within the school environment!
Many of the items listed like, the bins, privacy folders, dry erase holders and supplies caddy all help keep a classroom organized.
These sensory tools will improve their social-emotional growth leading to better social skills within multiple settings. If we receive enough sensory tools to leave them in their general education. This will help them integrate successfully with their general education peers successfully!
