Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students come from an urban area with diverse backgrounds, so they are facing multiple life issues. This can be difficult for anyone, so it is highly important that they are afforded a classroom environment that promotes their learning and well-being first and foremost.
They are enthusiastic, ambitious, and motivated learners.
I wish for each one of my students to have the opportunities that they so rightfully deserve in a classroom environment that provides ample and worthwhile learning experiences. Their future matters.
My Project
My students enjoy reading and turning the pages of picture books. I have requested books by Dr. Seuss, such as "Wacky Wednesday", and "Oh, The Places You'll Go" to have in our classroom library. It is important that my students have a variety of stories to experience. The puzzles in our classroom get used often and have gone through normal wear and tear. The kids come to me when a piece breaks off so that I can mend it with tape, but it is time for new alphabet and number puzzles for the class to use.
Children thrive when they have the books and materials needed in the classroom to use throughout the school day.
The phonic activities that I have requested focus on sight words and CVC words, which are important skills to acquire and go hand-in-hand with reading. The math centers focus on addition, as well as two-dimensional and three-dimensional shapes recognition. I wish for my students to have a well-rounded education with books and materials that will foster the skills needed to move along their learning journey.
