I work with elementary aged students on the autism spectrum. These students are motivated, hard working and they inspire me everyday. At school, we engage in preacademic and academic content, but also work on the development of functional and daily living skills.
Despite the difficulties they face each day, my students walk into the school building with a positive attitude and enthusiasm for learning.
This attitude inspires me to go above and beyond for these kids each and every day.
Using a home/school communication log is central in my classroom for close communication between parents and teachers.
Parents are eager to read about what their child learned at school that day, especially because most of the learners in my classroom do not have the verbal capabilities (yet) to tell them what they did at school themselves.
I am asking for some additional three-ring binders and a 'mail' storage system. If each student has a designated mail slot, they are able to practice independently in taking their binder out of their backpack each day and putting it into their mail slot.
