My Students

I teach Elementary Special Education. My students are each unique individuals. They all bring their own set of skills, thoughts, and ideas to the classroom. When everyone is working together, I am blown away by the things they come up with and the progress they make. They’re active learners, always engaged and wanting to know more. They have unwavering confidence in themselves and can achieve whatever they set theirs minds to. I grow more proud of them each and every day.

My Project

My students have special needs and struggle with reading. Finding age-appropriate material on their reading level can be difficult and often fruitless. Storyworks Jr offers exactly that. My students will be more excited about reading if the subject matter is relevant to their lives. I believe these magazines can be an excellent tool to get my students on track to becoming better readers.

My students will enjoy the articles and will be able to get engaged in higher order thinking discusssions on the topics presented in the magazines.

They will be exposed to different types of articles, including non-fiction, fiction, plays, and paired texts.
