This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
This project is geared to help 3 and 4 year old students that are new to school grow in their learning. The majority of these babies come from low income families and communities where they have a lot of needs to be met at school. Creating a wonderful classroom learning experience for these babies are crucial to their educational growth. Prekindergarten is a wonderful experience, but it is the most important experience in education. These babies and their families have made a commitment to further their education despite the personal and environmental challenges they face.
My Project
The items specially picked for my project will aid in the literacy and math development of my prekindergarten students. My students are first year learnings with no classroom experience; they need materials that they can use with their hands to enhance their learning. Manipulatives such as animal counters help students determine the letters in their names. Lamination sheets for student workstation practice give students the opportunity to save on paper and enhance their writing skills through repetition. Snacks and water help fuel their brains so they can be actively engaged in learning, reading in the library, and participating in workstations. Ink and copy paper provide the materials they need to practice reading and writing. Markers and crayons add life to drawings, and they also help students practice proper holding stance of writing materials.
