Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are sweet, loving, and kind! The students come to school full of energy, eager to learn, and excited about school. Our students come from low-income families, some are limited English speakers, and some are gifted and talented. No matter what their background, the students love school and enjoy coming each day.
This past year has been hard on them due to our school receiving damage from Hurricane Harvey.
We were doubled up in classrooms which made it very close knit. Regardless, of our situation the students made the best of it and we finished out the year on a positive note.
My Project
My first grade students need to be engaged in reading / listening to stories throughout the day. The listening center, books, CDs will help the students understand story structure, settling, main idea, and characters. This will give the students an understanding of the strategies they will be learning throughout the year.
Each student will be rotating into the center to have the opportunity to engage in this stimulating environment.
The cart will keep all the material for easy access for the students to utilize. The bins will help organize the books and CDs so the students will learn organization skills.
