I am the teacher to an amazing group of third graders! I pride myself on having a classroom library to meet their needs, but many of the books that my classroom has are ex-library books. While they have served students well, many have begun to deteriorate over years of use.
My students are a wonderful group of imaginative, creative kids.
These books would help to provide them with a classroom library that is large enough to contain books of their interest, as well as high enough quality to be useful for years to come. My goal is always to help foster in students a love of learning, and also habits of lifetime literacy. Once students find books that suit their needs, meet their interest, and are at their reading level, they very quickly become lovers of books.
My hope would be that these books would encourage students to interact with the written word in a way that could help them not just for their third-grade year, but for a lifetime.
