Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are very energetic and have a love and passion for reading. If it's reading a book by using pictures or the words they are always excited to hold a book in their hands.
Our school uses Daily 5, this way the teacher can work with a small group while the rest of the class is in a station.
My students love going to our classroom library and picking out books to read. Whether they are reading to self or reading with a partner, it's my students favorite station. They are eager to learn to read and they love reading! I love my first graders because of the love and passion they have for reading, for many of them it's a big accomplishment when they can sit there and read a book to a peer.
My Project
My students will have their own BOOK Bin where they can store books that are Right for them (by reading level and interest). They will also have a warm, inviting, cozy spot they can go read their books!

With this new classroom library and reading spot they will all look forward to our literacy station and their reading time. Whether they are quietly reading to themselves or reading to a partner, they will have an awesome place to go read. My students always look forward to their reading time and Daily 5 provides the perfect opportunity. With these improvements my students won't have to waste time picking out books, since they would of already picked them out and have them in their book bins.
