My Students

Do you remember what it was like the first time you read a book that you couldn't put down? I do! Many of my students don't have access to books when they go home. I want to fill my classroom with books so that they can Read whenever they want to. Please help build our classroom library!

I have 16 students in my Kindergarten classroom.

We live in a rural county in VA with low to middle income families. My students like reading fiction and non-fiction stories. They especially love animal books and books with vivid pictures. They love making connections with the stories and the characters.

My Project

These books will be on display in our classroom library for the students to look at and read whenever they would like. When my students have free time they can partner read or read alone if they would like. They can get the books and take them to their seat or a special place in the room to read.

This project is important because I want books to be readily accessible to my students at all times during the day and building our classroom library makes that more possible.

I want my students to be able to read even if they don't have access to books at home, I want lots of books for them in our room.
