This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I teach high school students in English 10, English 12 with an emphasis on social justice and Sociology.
My students this year, are off the charts!
They are engaged, curious, and active learners who are ready to be the CEOs of their own learning. This year, we are working on a lot of collaborative learning, and we are highly focused on improving our reading comprehension and perfecting the analytical paragraph.
Overall, my students are ready to connect their learning to what is happening in the world and use their energy to be impactful.
My Project
Students in my Sociology classroom will be reading books to add to their engagement with the textbook. I have started a collection of books, but I would like to continue to add books that will hold their interests and keep them reading in my classroom.
Students will present what they have learned from these books and hopefully encourage others to pick them up.
Helping students begin to learn that reading is one of the best ways to build their world view is important. This will be a continual project that I am excited to add to each year! Looking forward to it.
