My fourth grade students are the future! They are still building their reading careers and are learning how to enhance their love of learning and books as they gear up for middle school and beyond.
My creative, curious fourth graders are looking to fall in love with their next book every day they walk through my door.
They are growing and learning in a small, tight-knit rural/suburban school, and I cannot wait to provide them doors to more worlds through books.
My Project
The Jennifer Serravallo Go-To Books and Ronald Dahl sets are curated collections of high-quality, high-interest books, combined together into a classroom library collection. In a classroom structured around reading workshop, providing students with a wide variety of books is crucial to offer them choice, help them to take ownership of their reading choices and goals, and introduce them to genres and styles of books that they may never have encountered.
The more time you spend with books you can read and want to read, the more you will grow as a reader.
These classroom library books will teach my readers new things, whisk them away to new worlds, and model ideas and character traits. I firmly believe that reading every day is the best way to become a better reader and being surrounded by these materials and choices will help my students immeasurably.
