My classroom is a busy place in which we are always reading, exploring, and learning new things. The goal is for my students to become curious learners and confident readers.
My students love to read and are excited about exploring new words in many ways.
I read aloud to my students daily. Students also have the opportunity to read on their own or with a peer every day.
Our school is located in a high poverty neighborhood with most students receiving free or reduced lunch. My students come from diverse backgrounds. We are always excited to learn from each other!
My Project
I am requesting new books for my classroom library. Many of the books currently in my classroom library are outdated and do not match my students' reading or interest levels. My classroom has students at many different reading levels. Some of my students are reading at levels several grades above or below second grade. This update to my library will allow me to provide books that match all my students' levels. Also, I am requesting books on different math topics to introduce this genre to my class.
My students need quality literature to read daily.
With these new books, students will be able to choose books on their level and books that appeal to their interests. Students in my classroom choose new books for their book boxes weekly. These new books will provide them with high-quality choices they need.
All of my students LOVE to read. These new books will allow them to explore different books on new topics and by new authors. Most importantly, I will have books that meet the needs of all of the students in my class, allowing them the continue to grow as readers.
